Canadian Scale Rail & Hobby was founded in 1991 By Gordon and his wife Lavonne. They had previously owned a hobby store in a different part of the country for several years. After moving from BC to Alberta and taking a break to determine the direction they wanted to go it was decided to experiment with the online market on eBay. It was soon determined that with the inventory on hand a retail store should be opened. In June of 1993 the retail hobby store under the name Airdrie Hobby and Cycle was opened. In June of 2006 the store was renamed Fun Times Hobby & Cycle and relocated to larger premises in Olds Alberta to serve the area between Calgary and Red Deer which had no local supply. In Nov 2009 after 33 years of repairing and selling bicycles, Gord moved the store to Red Deer to focus on the hobby side of the business.

Gordon has been a model railroader and model builder for over 30 years. He has built over 35 layouts in a variety of scales. He has loved trains since he was old enough to know what they were. He is always willing to answer questions regarding any aspect of model railroading and model building.
